Philanthropy is unique and personal. Eight out of ten Americans are charitable, yet most cannot afford to give large cash gifts because many are using their cash to support their family or business. (Giving USA 2022) Leaving a legacy can make an impact at any amount and in a variety of ways. Do you have an estate? Most people do! It is the sum of your assets:

  • Property
  • Insurance Policies
  • Retirement Accounts
  • Stocks
  • Other Investments Cash

Are you passionate about a cause or your community?

Most of us care deeply about a cause or place. Have you ever wanted to impact the environment, save a landmark, pay it forward to a future student, or help a cause that cares for others? There are so many options!

A legacy gives you an opportunity to live for a purpose that’s bigger than yourself. - Dave Ramsey

Leaving a Legacy

Leaving a legacy means creating a gift from your estate and giving it to a charitable organization. This is a great option for those with estates who wish to make a difference! Leaving a legacy gift to the GHACF is a way to enhance the community for future generations. Many do this through a charitable bequest from their estate to a current or new fund through a last will and testament or through another type of planned gift. Nine percent of all gifts given in the United States last year was by bequest. (Giving USA 2022)

Leaving a gift to charity may significantly reduce the estate tax burden on your heirs.  You should consult with a financial advisor or estate planning attorney to learn how giving may actually benefit your family after you are gone.

If you’re going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can’t be erased. – Maya Angelou

Join the GHACF Legacy Society

The Legacy Society recognizes individuals and couples who have named GHACF as the beneficiary of any type of planned or deferred gift. The purpose is to acknowledge and thank those who have made these gifts and to inspire others to do the same. We will not ask how much you are leaving. You are, however, encouraged to discuss your gifts with us to make sure we can comply with your wishes – especially if you wish to start a new fund.

Beginning with 59 members in 2003, the GHACF Legacy Society has grown to more than 300 individuals today. Members are invited to an annual event as a way to celebrate their philanthropy and inspire others. All it takes to join is to fill out this form and return it to the GHACF office. Because of the generosity of these members, gifts have been realized to make our community a wonderful place to live, work, and play – their gifts will impact the community for generations to come.
