Patty MacDonald

Vice President of Finance & Administration
What do you do at the GHACF?

Basically, I do all things that involve money, financial transactions, financial statements, bank reconciliations, the annual audit, accepting gifts of stock and Human Resources.

How long have you been with the GHACF?

I have been with the GHACF since March 2014. I am beyond thankful for my time here and the opportunities that have presented themselves to do really good work in this great community!

Why do you work at the GHACF?

My career journey brought me to this non-profit world where I can make a difference while providing accountability and transparency to our work at the Foundation. I am finding great personal fulfillment in my work and have continued to learn so much about community foundations and their importance in the communities they serve. I have also had the opportunity to meet so many community leaders that I would not have met otherwise. It’s the perfect fit for this stage of my career.

Education & Experience

I have been in the Finance field for more than 30 years! I have, more often than not, worn the Human Resources hat as well. After graduating from The University of Michigan – Dearborn with a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Finance, I began my professional career in the International Assignments Department of Burroughs Corporation in Detroit. I remained there until The Michigan State Police assigned my husband to Grand Haven and we moved to this wonderful community. Fast forward past a stint in Lansing and we were back in Grand Haven. I then took a position with St Patrick – St Anthony Catholic Church where I stayed for 10 years. When it felt like it was time for a change and professional growth I answered the posting for Finance Director at GHACF. It has been a wonderful ride so far and I look forward to the many years to come!

Do you have a leisure activity or hobby?

First and foremost, I love to spend time with my husband of 30 years (Jim) and my four kids plus one son-in-law! I also enjoy long walks, going to the movies, the theatre, reading all kinds of books and spending time with friends.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

You might find me in my office listening to Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett or Michael Buble – my favorites.
