What do you do at the GHACF?

As the Coopersville Area Youth Advisory Council (CAYAC) Advisor, I help support and mentor high school students as they learn about philanthropy, leadership, and community service through the Coopersville Area Community Foundation. I facilitate youth-led meetings, guide students through reviewing and awarding grants that benefit local youth and help plan service projects and outreach events. I help empower teens to make meaningful decisions that contribute to the Coopersville youth community.

How long have you been with the GHACF?

I began my work in July of 2011.

Why do you work at the GHACF?

Having the opportunity to work with youth who want to make a difference in their communities is why I do what I do.  From community service to grant recommendations, the YAC members consistently amaze me with their passion for doing good.

Education & Experience

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Michigan University with minors in English and Spanish. I have 24 years of teaching experience – K-5 Spanish, 3rd and 4th Grades, and Middle School ELA.

Do you have a leisure activity or hobby?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband fishing on Lake Michigan or golfing at courses around the state.  We also enjoy a good road trip up north!

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I’ve traveled to 41 states!
