Elizabeth Huisman

Grants & Program Associate
What do you do at the GHACF?

As part of the Grants & Program Team, I help support for-impact organizations and students through our competitive grant and scholarship programs.

How long have you been with the GHACF?

I began my career at GHACF in April 2021.

Why do you work at the GHACF?

I have a passion for playing a role in impacting our community. I’m a lifelong resident of West Michigan, and I’ve lived in Grand Haven since 1999. I’m dedicated to giving back and inspired by the philanthropic nature of our community. I’ve always admired the foundation and its mission of enhancing the quality of life for all.

Education & Experience

I have a Bachelor’s degree from GVSU in Communications. I’ve enjoyed a variety of positions in West Michigan, particularly those centered around community relationships and impact. I have experience with fund development, administrative support, business operations, marketing, board relations and community collaborations. Once I began working in the nonprofit sector, I realized I had found my niche.

Do you have a leisure activity or hobby?

I enjoy volunteering for local nonprofits, reading, writing, art, enjoying nature, partaking in community events, and traveling to new nearby places. I also enjoy spending time with my husband, our three children, family, and friends.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Growing up, I lived on a small, grass airstrip in Kent City.
