The Youth Committee was proud to support Grand Haven Area Public School's "The Only Arms You'll Ever Need" Campaign which received both state and national recognition.

New grants for the school year 2009-10 (September 1, 2009-June 30, 2010) During the 2009-10 school year the Youth Advisory Committee is continuing to support programs for youth in the Tri-Cities. Listed below are some of the new grants awarded from the Youth Fund:

  • Families in Crisis Initiative $20,743

    $3,400 to Love INC for the purchase of two Gleaners Trucks
    $1,500 to Love INC to purchase motel vouchers for Emergency Shelter
    $1,000 to Love INC to purchase ground beef for their pantry
    $343
    to Love INC for the Birthday Box Ministry
    $5,000 to double the number of familys adopted throught the Salvation Army this Christmas
    $3,000 to the People Center for help with the cost of winter utilities
    $2,000 to the People Center to restock their food pantry
    $1,000 to the People Center for the purchase of blankets

    $1,500 to support cpimse;omg at Tri-Cities Ministries Counseling
    $2,000 to purchase diapers, infant formula, and baby items for Lakeshore Pregnancy Center.

  • Northwest Ottawa Chamber Foundation Leadership Connect Class-$2500 Salvation Army PLAY-Station

  • Girl Scouts of michigan Shore to Shore-$2,500 Financial Literacy Program for 5th - 8th grade girls in Spring lake and Grand Haven

  • Spread the Music Foundation, Inc $5,000 Loud on the Lawn Music Experience giving all children an opportunity to learn about and play various instruments





  • Ottawa County $7,000 Miles of Smiles Dental Van and Endowment Fund

  • Barnabas Ministries Incorporated $2,000 Lakeshore Honors Basketball League

  • Outdoor Discovery Center $1,000 Nature in Our Neighborhoods Preschool Program

  • Spring Lake Schools $2,500 Heart Rate monitors for Healthy Habits Program

  • Ottawa County MSU Extension $3350 Master Gardener Youth Education Program

  • Grand Haven Area Public Schools $3,000 Capturing Kids Hearts Program

  • Timberland Resource Conservation & Development Area Council, Inc $2500 to improve the Pigeon River Habtat to better suit coldwater game fish

  • Spring Lake Public Schools/Jeffers and Holmes Elementary-$1000 Life Skills Tolerance/Respect Project

  • West Michigan Concert Winds $500 - Winners and Winds Concert

  • Ottawa County MSU Extension- $3,000 Journey Mentoring Program for self esteem building activities
