James Merkle Memorial Scholarship Fund
This
scholarship will be administered through Grand Valley State
University's Special Education Department. Requirements to
be announced at a later date.

Coopersville Area Community Foundation Scholarship Fund
Jack
and Libby Bush Scholarship Fund
This fund
was started in 2005 by the family of Libby Bush and from memorials
to Elizabeth "Libby" Bush after her untimely death.
The family decided to offer the first scholarship this year,
in 2008.
Applicants must be current graduates of Coopersville Area
High School and pursuing a four year degree in a College,
Community College or Trade School. Applicants, either male
or female, must have good writing and communication skills.GPA
of 2.0 or higher and financial need is a key issue.
Nelson
Family Scholarship Fund
This
Fund was opened in 2007 by the Nelson family, who grew up
in Coopersville, as a way to give back to the community. Applicants,
either male or female, must be a graduating senior at Coopersville
High School. Applicants may be pursuing a two or four year
degree or a certificate at a technical school. A GPA of at
least a 2.5 is required and financial need is the highest
priority.
Del
Shannon Memorial Scholarship Fund
This
fund was opened in August of 2007 in loving memory of Coopersville's
own Del Shannon, by his wife Shirley Westover, and his family.
This scholarship is designed to provide graduates of Coopersville
High Schools who are planning to pursue studies in the field
of vocal or instrumental music
and
who demonstrate musical talent, with a one-time award for
the purpose of post-secondary education.

Grand Haven Area Community Foundation Scholarships Announced
for 2007-2008
Charles (Charlie) A. Bassett Endowed Scholarship Fund
This
Fund was initiated by the Tennis players at Spring Lake High
School in 2007, led by students Ben McNeil, Nathan Lee, a
GHACF Youth Advisory Committee member, Leo Reap, Jake Lee
and parent volunteers Lisa Lee and Sherri Reap. The students
and their parents raised the dollars that started the Fund
and presented the Fund to Mr. Bassett as a surprise gift at
the 2007 Tennis Banquet. The Fund was meant as a tribute to
Charlie Bassett, their much admired coach. Available only
to Spring Lake High School graduating seniors, male or female,
who have played on the tennis team. Applicants must reflect
Charlie's values of positive thought, strong personal conviction
and outstanding character.
Financial need is not a priority.
Dake
Community Manufacturing Scholarship Fund
The purpose
of this scholarship is to provide encouragement and support
to a student that wants to further their manufacturing education.
This would include, but not be limited to industrial, vocational,
technical training that would contribute to the student's
manufacturing career development or a career school accredited
by ACCSCT. Applicants may apply from North West Ottawa County,
Muskegon County and Oceana County. Applicants may be current
High School graduates, current college students or adult returning
students. A GED is acceptable and GPA need not be a consideration.
Financial need is a consideration.
Pat
and John MacTavish Fund
Opened
in loving memory of Pat MacTavish, by her husband John to
honor her and her professional career. First consideration
will be given to high school or college women seeking to improve
their knowledge of the physical science field through an enrichment
program in any of the following areas of study: math, chemistry,
geology, technical writing, physics, or computer science.
Note: Studies in psychology and the social sciences will not
be considered. Second consideration will be a college scholarship
for women seeking to major in math, chemistry, geology, technical
writing, physics, or computer science. Note: Studies in psychology
and the social sciences will not be considered.
Reichardt
Family Endowment Fund
Opened in 2008 in loving memory of Jack Reichardt by his family
and with memorials to the Reichardt Family Endowment Fund,
this
scholarship will support a current college student or graduate
student from the Tri-Cities area who will be studying in an
international program. First preference to a student studying
in a developing country. "Developing" will be defined
as countries meeting the World Bank criteria. However, this
Scholarship could support any student studying internationally.
Financial need will be a consideration. The Scholarship may
not be awarded every year.
