New Grand Haven Area Community Foundation Scholarships Announced for 2009-2010

Alex Crum Scholarship

This Scholarship was started in memory of Alex Crum, by her parents Todd and Kate Crum, with the additional support of memorial gifts when her Grandfather, Larry Gardner, passed away. This Scholarship Fund will give its debut award in 2010 – the year Alex would have graduated from Grand Haven High School. It will be awarded annually to a female senior graduating from Grand Haven High School who plans to attend a 2 or 4 year educational institution.The recipient will demonstrate that extra-curricular sports were a part of their High School experience. No GPA minimum is required for this Scholarship. Financial need is not a consideration for this Scholarship.

Grace Thatcher Scholarship

This Scholarship was started in memory of Grace Thatcher by her parents, John and Debra, along with the support of her friends and family in both the Grand Haven and Hudsonville communities. This Fund will award its debut Scholarship in the year 2016, the year Grace would have graduated from Hudsonville High School.
Starting in 2016, this scholarship will be awarded annually to a Senior graduating from Grand Haven High School. This Scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to pursue a career in Science. This could include Nursing, Medicine, Physicians Assistant, Teacher/Professor,etc. The recipient will demonstrate that co-curricular activities were a part of their High School experience. Minimum GPA requirement is 3.50. Financial need is a consideration for this Scholarship.

(This Fund will also provide a grant to Hudsonville Public Schools in 2010 which will be used to award Scholarship(s) in the Hudsonville school district and follow the same criteria through the Hudsonville School District.)
