Who We Are:
The
Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, located in Grand Haven,
Michigan and founded in 1971, is a permanent community endowment
built by gifts and bequests from thousands of individuals, families,
and organizations committed to improving and enhancing the quality
of life in the Tri-Cities area. Guided
by a volunteer Board of Trustees made up of community leaders,
the Foundation has two primary functions.
What
We Do:
First, we invest funds received from donors and distribute
the investment earnings to nonprofit organizations through
grants to nonprofits that are located primarily in the service
area of Northwest Ottawa County, Michigan. Second, the Foundation
manages and administers funds for individuals, families, businesses,
and other organizations that have specific charitable objectives.
Gifts:
The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation and Affiliates,
have received more than $4.0 million in 2007, from thousands
of individual donors, businesses and families wanting to improve
life in Northwest Ottawa County. While some of these contributions
were in the form of bequests
- legacies from generous donors to support the community's
future, many were from individuals generously sharing their
resources for the good of our community.
Grants:
In 2007, the Foundation and Affiliates distributed more than
3.6 million in grants and scholarships to help nonprofits
better carry out their mission for the good of our community.
Community
Foundations are the fastest growing form of organized philanthropy
in Michigan. The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation is
a proud member of the Council of Michigan Foundations. To
